The employees, Board Members and the wider family of Society for the Environment (SocEnv) are saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We collectively thank Her Majesty for her decades of unwavering service and dedication, and we send our deepest condolences to the Royal Family and those close to Her Majesty at this sad time.
The Queen granted the Society for the Environment with our Royal Charter in 2004, supporting our endeavours on our journey towards sustainability through environmental professionalism. We will be forever grateful for, and proud of, the Royal Charter, and will continue to fulfil the duties within.
As a Royal Chartered Body and out of respect to the Queen and the Royal Family, the Society for the Environment is suspending all external communications and promotional activities during the period of national mourning. This period continues until after the funeral on the 19th September 2022.
The Society’s key functions will remain active and individual communication lines remain open, with exception to the 19th September when the office will be closed.
We wish King Charles III well as the new monarch. As HRH the Prince of Wales, Charles was awarded as a Honorary Fellow of the Society for the Environment (HonFSE) in 2008 in recognition of his service to the environment.
