This week the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) have reached a huge milestone with 2,000 members now registered as Chartered Environmentalists.

This achievement comes just one week after IEMA celebrated another record of 20,000 members in total. With both numbers continuing to rise, the growing need for competent environmental professionals is evident.

The Society for the Environment are nearing their 8,000th current registrant across the CEnv, REnvP and REnvTech registers. It is clear that IEMA members are a huge part of this growth as more and more organisations seek to address their own environmental impact, provide expert solutions for their clients and enhance our natural environments.

Dr Emma Wilcox CEnv, Chief Executive of the Society for the Environment said:

“We are delighted that IEMA have reached this target! Congratulations to the team and all of their Chartered Environmentalist members. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with IEMA as part of the Society’s family to support their members and to welcome the next 2,000 CEnv registrants.”

The very first CEnv registrant via IEMA, Martin Baxter CEnv, Director of Policy and External Affairs and Deputy CEO of IEMA, expresses his delight:

“We’re delighted to have passed the milestone of 2,000 Chartered Environmentalists registered by IEMA. Given the pressures of climate change, biodiversity loss and widespread environmental degradation, there is an urgent need for positive action to drive change for a sustainable economy. Chartered Environmentalists are at the heart of transition, applying their skills and leading organisations around the world in the transition to a net zero, greener future.”

IEMA are one of 24 professional bodies licensed by the Society for the Environment to award CEnv registration to their appropriately experienced and knowledgeable members. They also offer the Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) registration to those working at the practitioner level and those aiming for Chartership in the future.
