Part One // Valuing the Invaluable: Introducing Natural Capital in 2020
This talk explores a bit of the history of the Natural Capital concept to understand why the metaphor arose, before looking at how this way of thinking and measuring change can be a powerful tool in the quest for more sustainable decisions. Our expert speaker also discusses a few common pitfalls and how to keep a critical eye open as you implement Natural Capital approaches.

Part Two // Nature-Based Solutions & Developing a Natural Capital Approach
Featuring expert insight from Chartered Environmentalists Angus Middleton
and Stuart Wilson, of Viridian Logic Ltd & Highways England respectively.
Firstly, Angus explores nature-based solutions; enhancing natural systems to solve society’s problems. Angus discusses various challenges involved with designing nature-based solutions and how these can possibly be resolved.
Stuart's presentation then highlights the work Highways England are doing with Natural England to build natural capital into decision-making, supporting the development and delivery of better outcomes from infrastructure projects and moving from theory into general use.
Part Three // Farming in a Time of Change + The Consultant's Role
Sarah Faulkner CEnv and Charles Cowap discuss the role of farmers, landowners and consultants in the management of natural capital. Sarah's emphasis is on the recognition of the existing natural capital benefits from farming and rural landownership with a look ahead to how this contribution will grow and develop in future. Charles looks at the advisory and consultancy services which will be needed if the full range of environmental opportunities - ecosystem services and natural capital - are to be developed successfully.

Part Five // Application of Natural Capital Approaches - Ox Cam Arc
**About this webinar:
Lessons identified through work on natural capital approaches within the Ox Cam Arc and outputs from the Natural Capital Committee will be used to explore some of the local governance and implementation challenges including within the developing and changing policy landscape. This will include the data and methodology requirements for aspects such as net biodiversity gain and net environment gain, interfaces with Local Nature Recovery Strategies, the Environmental Land Management Scheme and funding opportunities.
