On Tuesday 6th June 2023 the Society for the Environment held its 19th Annual General Meeting. The AGM included voting for three new Board Members for three year terms each.
The successful candidates to join the Society for the Environment Board were:
- Sue Buxey – Director of Operations & Professional Standards, Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA)
- Peter Egan CEnv – Requirements Manager, UK Strategic Command
- Lara Young CEnv – Group Head of ESG, Cromwell Property Group
Sue joins the Board as a result of her new position as Chair of the Registration Authority. Peter and Lara join the Board as regular Board Members.
The meeting also confirmed Dougal Driver CEnv as the new Chair of the Board. As an existing Board Member, Dougal was keen to ensure that those new to the Board were given the stand to say some words about their new positions. Therefore, please scroll below to meet our three new Board Members:

I have a passion for mentoring and shaping the next generation of Chartered Environmental Professionals and I am looking forward to working with my fellow Board Members to help place professional registration as a key requirement in today’s industry. SocEnv play’s a critical role in setting the standard for many sectors, while driving organisations to sustainable outcomes, as a Board Member I am to play my part in delivering these goals.
