Dialogue Between Disciplines 2024

Event by: IES

Event Summary

IES members have deep expertise in areas such as air quality, land condition and water. These operate as distinct areas within the IES through our communities and sister organisations. However, environmental issues do not sit in neat boxes. Each specialism interacts with others, and often they use different terminology, assessment methodologies and approaches. This can lead to siloed thinking and difficulties when assessments are brought together through processes such as SEA and EIA, and can lead to sub-optimal environmental outcomes. Unlocking multifunctional solutions to the interlinked crises of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution are dependent on effective interdisciplinary working and systems-thinking approaches.

To bridge some of these gaps we are proud to present the inaugural Dialogue Between Disciplines Conference, a groundbreaking event dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The first conference will focus on facilitating discussion on the triple crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, with the aim of championing solutions and practical action.
