The Annual Energy Institute Awards Ceremony

We were delighted to join EI in celebrating their 23rd Energy Institute (EI) Awards ceremony last night to recognise the range of talent from across the energy sector, featuring the Low Carbon Award, which was presented by our Engagement Manager, Phil Underwood.

From sustainable banknote printing to a net zero hotel room, global excellence was on display as winners picked up awards for their innovative and diverse projects.

Eight organisations and two individuals went home with wins highlighting that the best and brightest minds in the industry are creating solutions to the challenges the sector is facing.

Hosted by journalist and broadcaster Steph McGovern, the EI’s panel of expert judges this year shortlisted more than forty nominations drawn from all corners of the world, from Europe to Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Speaking during the ceremony, EI President Juliet Davenport OBE HonFEI said:

“There are big challenges facing our sector – the urgency of net zero to address climate change and the big implications of an energy transition, against the back drop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the profound effect that’s had on the security of supply of energy and as a result the cost of living.

“Among the energy sector’s workforce of 65 million, we’re here to celebrate those – our nominees this evening – who are doing incredible things to push this sector forward and out of these turbulent times.

“The global energy transition will need to be centred around people, and in particular – highly skilled people, who will need the support of training and professional development to keep up with the pace we need to work at.”

Alongside the EI Awards, the evening also saw an Honorary Fellowship of the EI presented to clean energy thought leader Michael Liebreich.
