The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) is delighted to have joined the Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH). Working internationally and in alignment with the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, CA4SH seeks to address a range of barriers that constrain farmers from adopting and scaling out healthy soil practices.

This objective aligns with a key priority of our influential, interdisciplinary Soils and Stones project, which brings together current and aspiring Chartered Environmentalists to lead the way and deliver change on how soils are used and reused.

See below reaction to this news from project lead, Martin Ballard CEnv, and from the CA4SH coordinators.

We are absolutely delighted to join this wonderful coalition, bringing together those working to protect soils across sectors and national borders. We are particularly pleased to be working at a global level, as improving soil health poses challenges and opportunities for us all – and we can undoubtedly benefit from collaboration and learning from each other. Through CA4SH we endeavour to take our partnership working to the next level, as the range of organisations involved is truly impressive, from NGOs to Government organisations, and academia to the private sector. As a CA4SH member, we very much look forward to getting involved in a range of activities, including sharing good practice, shaping campaigns, and contributing to events, all with the purpose of protecting our precious soils.

We are thrilled to welcome SocEnv to the Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH). SocEnv's work, such as the innovative Soils and Stones project, truly reflects the kind of cross-disciplinary and collaborative approach that is at the heart of our community. As leaders in the UK soils space, SocEnv has played a crucial role in raising the profile of soil health among policymakers, including through the MP inquiry into soil health. SocEnv's membership strengthens our shared efforts, and we look forward to the opportunities for collaboration and impact that lie ahead.
