Following the announcement of the UK 2024 General Election results, the Society for the Environment (SocEnv) makes the following statement:
View our priorities for the new GovernmentThe Society offers our congratulations to the Labour Party for winning the UK General Election and trusts that there will now be a smooth transition of power. Over the coming months and years, we look forward to working in partnership with the new Government, and the devolved administrations where appropriate, to deliver on our environmental and climate commitments. In advance of the election, the Environmental Policy Forum outlined the priorities that the Government must implement with urgency during its time in office. Supported by SocEnv and 11 leading professional bodies, each priority contains specific asks for policymakers, which should be achieved through support from business. These priorities will form the basis of our communications with government and the opposition parties for the next five years. We will continue to work hard to represent our extensive network of environmental professionals, advocating for policies that enable urgent action to safeguard the environment and progress towards net zero.
