Energy & Civil Society Day

The sixth thematic day of COP27 focused on "Energy & Civil Society". As noted by SocEnv Board member and COP delegate Kirsten Röttcher CEnv: "We need to invest in clean, sustainable, and reliable energy or we cannot hope to reach net zero. The transition to renewable energy is not only a necessity to reach our climate goals but also an economic opportunity and provides greater energy independence for nations. The transition, however, must be supported by needs based policies, as part of achieving climate justice. Time is the most important variable. We need to speed up and increase the scale of implementation now."
