In 2021, the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) held their annual Burntwood lecture. This flagship event provides an opportunity for an eminent speaker to talk on a current, critical and often controversial environmental theme.

The 2021 Burntwood lecture was presented by Professor Joanna D. Haigh, former Co-Director of the Grantham Institute and awardee of the Institute of Physics' Charles Chree Medal and Prize in 2004. The lecture touched on both the definition and implications of net zero future actions, with a timely look at what was agreed upon at COP26 in Glasgow.

IES is a Licensed Member of the Society for the Environment
