In March 2026, we led a response to the National Planning Policy Framework: proposed reforms and other changes to the planning system consultation, on behalf of the Environmental Policy Forum (EPF).
Overall, despite some welcome proposals, we are concerned about the reforms set out in this consultation.
From the EPF response
Eleven professional bodies and learned societies in total signed up in support of the response, representing professionals working in disciplines such as ecology, resource management, water, forestry, environmental management, fisheries, engineering, the built environment and environmental sciences.
Our concise response covers five key overarching points, including the need for a holistic, evidence-based approach to planning and policymaking.
