Access Full BlogPrime Minister Liz Truss has pledged to ‘make Britain the most competitive and successful economy possible and we will do whatever it takes to deliver that’– including, it seems, sacrificing our wildlife, forests and waterways. The government's "Growth Plan" published last week is focused on deregulation and reducing burden and costs for business. Whilst government has so far been coy about any future environmental policy change, indications are that such a determined growth agenda will come at the expense of our natural environment. This is at odds with the manifesto on which the government was elected in 2019 which pledged to leave the environment in a better state than we inherited it.
