Registrant Profile | James Peacock CEnv, Project Manager

Back to search results

Although James studied a degree in Chemistry, what has stuck with him the most of all was the environmental damage chemistry has done. James saw chemistry as behind so many of the advances in the 20th century, helping to drag billions out of poverty, but these achievements being at the cost of the environment. As a chemist passionate about the environment, James wanted to work to help correct that negative impact.

Today James is the product manager at the environmental start-up EnTrade. EnTrade help farmers realise the environmental potential of their land and match them up with groups and businesses who can benefit from environmental services. They aim to increase the amount that is spent on the natural environment by bringing in more private sector investment and improving the efficiency of how it’s spent.

Having been a contaminated land scientist, James was keen to work more broadly on environmental issues and having the CEnv Status helped him to make this career bridge by demonstrating his credibility to talk about the environment and a commitment to benefitting the environment. This environmental credibility has enabled him to work on many environmental projects and has led to recognition at both the 2018 Edie Sustainability Awards and the 2018 Society for the Environment Awards, where he was the runner-up for the Environmental Professional of the Year Award.
