Registrant Profile | David Mann CEnv, Regional Support Manager

Although David began his career working in electrical contracting,he moved to the water industry due to its focus on doing something great: providing clean safe drinking water to millions of people with a beneficial effect on the environment. David recognise the huge challenges the water industry faces from the effects of climate change with drier summers already leading to significant water resource stress in many parts of the country which are growing worse and wetter winters already lead to flooding of our assets. Changes in agriculture will be a future stress with more land given over to arable farming and a greater need for different pesticides providing future treatment challenges.

For David, being a Chartered Environmentalist demonstrates his professional knowledge and experience on a wide range of sustainability matters and proves commitment to environmental best practice. David feels that recognition by peers provides great credibility when speaking about environmental subjects.

Why should others consider professional registration?

The environmental profession must continue to drive the practice of ever higher environmental standards into everyday life. It also has to build its membership to include more people and to reach groups of professionals who currently may not consider their work to be in the “environmental” sphere. I want to focus on getting more people involved in environmental registration at all levels. There are so many people out there who have a huge impact on our environment and who care passionately about sustainability and I think its up to CEnvs to seek them out.

Profile correct as of September 2018.
