Chartered Environmentalist, Cem Selcuk, has always been interested in new developments in business, and this led to a career in innovations. A member of, and Global Ambassador for, The Welding Institute (TWI), Cem headed its first innovation centre, in partnership with Brunel University. Having grown it to scale and established a culture of innovation, he is now developing the TWI Innovation Network internationally through multiple collaborations in industry and academia.
This role has seen Cem, in partnership with businesses, introduce new developments and concepts that have made a positive impact to the environment and society as a whole. It has also provided Cem the opportunity to get involved in several projects and multinational programmes, with environmental targets and benefits at the outset.
Through the professional development aspect of his role, Cem is involved in encouraging industry and academia to recognise the benefits of Chartered Environmentalist status, seeing it as part of almost every development across science, engineering and business innovations. As an active Chartered Environmentalist through the Society for the Environment, a fellow of both TWI and the IOM3, and senior roles within committees across these groups, Cem has helped to highlight the importance of recognising the societal and environmental challenges in delivering business.
Cem is also active in the following groups:
- IOM3 TC Leadership Group – Particulate Engineering (PEC) / MSTD
- Vice Chairman – IOM3 TC Defence, Safety & Security Group (DSSG)
- Head of Business Development – TWI Innovation Network (TWIIN)
- IOM3 Energy Materials Group (EMG) Board
- IOM3 Technology Communities Board (TCB) that links up the IOM3 communities
- A liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Founders.
