What is REnvP?
Registered environmental practitioner (REnvP) is a professional registration recognising the competence, skills and commitment of professionals working to enhance or protect the environment.
REnvP is a cross-sector registration so no matter your profession, if you meet the competency requirements, you may be eligible.

Who is REnvP for?
Registered Environmental Practitioners (REnvP) apply their knowledge and skills to protect and enhance the environment. REnvPs plan, implement, evaluate, and support good environmental practice across their work.
To register, practitioners must demonstrate knowledge equivalent to a QCF Level 5 qualification (England, Wales, Northern Ireland) and meet the 11 REnvP competences.

I have found that the process of applying for professional accreditation is always a good opportunity to do a self-reflection on your past experience, but this can be quite a challenge if you’re working from memory, so I would suggest keeping a tracker of your experience and skills, so you can quickly refer back to it when needed.

REnvP application process in short
1. Find a relevant licensed member
To apply for and to retain REnvP registration you must be a member of a professional body licensed by SocEnv (a “Licensed Member”) at an appropriate grade.

2. Contact the Licensed Member(s)
Contact their membership team to discuss becoming a member (if not already), your eligibility for REnvP, the support available, the applicable fees and the next steps.

3. Application submission
Your application should evidence how you meet the REnvP competences, alongside any additional supporting information requested by the Licensed Member.
4. Professional Review Interview
The Licensed Member may invite you to complete a Professional Review Interview (PRI) as an opportunity to expand on your application and/or to support your accessibility needs.
5. Code of Conduct & CPD
Your final steps are to sign SocEnv’s Code of Professional Conduct and agree to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
What are the requirements for REnvP?
- Professionally qualified member of a Licensed Member
- Knowledge at QCF Level 5 (or equivalent, assessed by licensed members)
- Relevant practical experience
- Commitment to CPD and professional conduct
- Pay registration and renewal fees
