TUESDAY 4TH JUNE 2019 @ ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS, KEW
A Spotlight on "Net Gain"
This is your chance to be a part of a unique, environmentally focused event that brings together environmental experts from a wide range of sectors and disciplines.
This is the third year the Society has showcased World Environment Day with an expert led event. The majority of delegates will be environmental professionals from across the Society’s 25 Licensed Professional Bodies that span a wide range of sectors including engineering, environmental management, ecology, environmental sciences, waste and resource management, agriculture, water, energy and forestry.
The grand finale of the event is the presentation of the Environmental Professional of the Year Award – recognising the outstanding work of Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) registrants.
The Society will also recognise at least two individuals as new Honorary Fellows of the Society for the Environment (HonFSE). These awards will contribute to an evening of celebrating the achievements of those striving to protect and enhance the environment on a daily basis.
Alongside the awards will be a series of lectures, providing expert insight and case studies into the event theme – “Net Gain”. Confirmed speakers include Richard Deverell, Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Nick Blyth CEnv, Policy & Engagement Lead at IEMA and Claire Wansbury CEnv, Associate Director of Ecology at Atkins.
The Society for the Environment champions World Environment Day and what it stands for. The United Nations initiative has highlighted important global issues since its beginning in 1974 including climate change, marine pollution and wildlife crime.
World Environment Day celebrates and promotes environmental awareness and sustainability across the globe annually on the 5th June. This year the Society is hosting the event on the eve of World Environment Day, allowing time on the day itself for involvement in relevant activities within their organisations and networks.
At the time of writing the global theme for 2019 is yet to be announced. With the event getting ever closer, this year we have taken the decision to select a topical theme of our own – “Net Gain”.
