With over 7,400 registered environmental professionals drawn from 24 professional bodies across the environmental sector, the Society for the Environment facilitates the collective influence of the environmental profession.
The Society uses this unique position to advance environmental good practice for the common good, as set out in our Royal Charter. Bringing together expert input from our registered environmental professionals and like-minded organisations facilitates credible and balanced input to environmental policy and decision making.
Both individually and as part of the Environmental Policy Forum (EPF), the Society utilises the expertise and reputation of its registrants to provide thought leadership on topical environmental issues. This may be through consultation responses, parliamentary briefings or other pieces of work conveying the position of our members and bodies.
As well as collating the expertise of environmental professionals, the Society provides opportunities for cross-sector networking and collaboration at seminars, events and campaigns.
We are also a partner organisation to the Broadway Initiative, a platform for all sectors of the economy and society to work together on the frameworks, plans and partnerships needed to meet net zero emissions and wider environmental goals. We are also a signatory to the Broadway Initiative publication 'Environment Bill: 5 changes to unlock market and local power to solve environmental challenges'.
