Welcome to the October edition of our e-newsletter. This month, find out more about our latest research, policy work and Employer Champions - and discover upcoming opportunities to get involved in our podcasts and profiles!
In our previous updates we have reported on the hugely positive governance review SocEnv has recently enjoyed. In September, these changes reached full fruition with the holding of the first Board Strategy Away Day – in which SocEnv’s direction and priorities for the coming twelve months were set out.
Research: Acting as Change Agents for Sustainability
Are you passionate about having more impact for sustainability? Do you worry that you (and collectively, we) are not driving change fast enough and at the scale required?
If so, can you help us to understand more about how we can support you better as a professional ‘change agent for sustainability’ via a quick survey?
We have teamed up with One Planet Education Networks (OPEN) to conduct pioneering research into what motivates, enables and constrains professionals - as 'change agents for sustainability' - in advancing environmental, social and/or economic sustainability through their work.
The survey focuses on individuals' mindset, entrepreneurial traits, professional knowledge, skills and competencies, and self-efficacy as previous research we have conducted has indicated that, taken together, these dimensions provide a rounded perspective on what we understand about the nature and practise of change agency for sustainability.
Registrant opportunity: feature in one of our podcasts or profiles!
At the Society for the Environment, we are committed to showcasing the expertise of our Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) registrants.
We know that our registrants are hugely knowledgeable, motivated and have fascinating backgrounds from a variety of sectors - reflective of the diversity of the environmental profession.
Our podcasts and profiles are all about providing insight into the lives of registrants, exploring what drives them, their career journeys and how professional registration has helped them along the way.
We are always on the lookout for volunteers to feature in our profiles and podcasts, so if you are interested or would like more information on what's involved then please contact Sarah Ridgeon.
SocEnv's Policy and Communications Officer, Sarah Ridgeon, outlines recent developments in what has been a busy time for both Government and the Environmental Policy Forum, and looks ahead to the coming months.
