Updates From the Chair and Chief Executive of the Society
The Society's CEO, Dr Emma Wilcox, highlights some key areas of work in this months issue, including our response to the EU Withdrawal Bill, a new marketing project and our Registration Authority's focus for the coming months. Emma also reiterates; "We always want to hear thoughts from our registrants on how we can ensure you get the most recognition for your registration so if you have ideas please let us know."

The Society's new Chair, Professor Will Pope HonFSE CEnv, gives his first newsletter update, including an introduction and a positive review of the work he has seen within the Society's team. Will is driven by the benefits of professional registration; "A professional, Chartered registration provides credibility and a standardised benchmark of knowledge and competence. I am therefore proud to be involved in steering the organisation towards its aims outlined in the 2020 Strategy."

EPF Warn that the EU Withdrawal Bill is Inadequate
The Society for the Environment partnered with seven other professional bodies*, as part of the Environmental Policy Forum, to warn that the EU Withdrawal Bill is inadequate to deliver Gove’s “Green Brexit” vision of healthier environment. 

As MPs begin to debate the landmark European Union (Withdrawal) Bill, leading environmental scientists, engineers, ecologists and water and waste experts have called for meaningful parliamentary scrutiny of environmental policies and laws.

Arboricultural Association Member Receives CEnv Certificate at Annual Conference
Simon Cox CEnv has become the first Aboricultural Association (AA) member to gain Chartered Environmentalist registration in three years, and was presented with his certificate at the AA's annual conference, 'Protect and Survive'. He is keen for his peers to follow suit, so following the event, we caught up with Simon to gain an insight into his plans and reasons behind his decision to become a CEnv.
