Society for the Environment E-Newsletter
Issue #11 | Friday 22nd February 2019
CEO and Chair Updates

Welcome to the February edition of our e-newsletter, which I am writing on a unseasonably sunny February afternoon.

I am delighted to announce some exciting news regarding the Society's Governance. Following the Council's decision to review the Society’s governance, our Charter and Bye Laws have now been amended and we are moving towards implementation. This move will ensure continued good practice and sound decision making.

Our new Board will assume responsibility in June at our AGM which is being held on the eve of World Environment Day at the beautiful setting of Kew Gardens. The Society is fifteen years old this year and we will certainly be taking the opportunity to celebrate the success of both the Society and its registrants. If you would like to join us please do let us know by contacting

For further information on the new governance arrangements, the new Board or any other elements of the Society for the Environment, please do get in touch.

2019 SocEnv Environmental Professionals Survey

The 2019 SocEnv Environmental Professionals Survey is now live and open for responses until 11 March.

The survey, which should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, is open to all Chartered Environmentalist and Registered Environmental Technician registrants.
Following on from our last edition in 2017, the survey asks you to reflect on your professional body memberships and registrations, the impact you feel you having as an environmental professional, and what we at the Society can do to help you.
By understanding more about what you do as well as your views, the Society will be better equipped to highlight your value to employers and decision makers, and address your concerns.
All responses are anonymous and confidential, but if you would like to receive notice of the survey results, please leave your email address when prompted at the end of the survey.
Thank you for your time.

Webinar Series: the Good, the Bad and the Game Changing

The latest Webinars@SocEnv series of free, expert led webinars is almost here!

The overarching topic for this three part series is Innovations - the Good, the Bad and the Game Changing. Innovative technologies, processes and thinking are seen to be vital for a more environmentally friendly future - but, what is actually happening? What works in different sectors? And, are we moving in the right direction?

The webinars will provide case studies, insight and good practice delivered by Chartered Environmentalists from across sectors. We’ll be discussing social innovation, electric vehicles, sporting mega-events, climate change and more. We invite you to learn from the cross-disciplinary perspectives on offer and participate in the Q&A discussions following each talk.
