Society for the Environment E-Newsletter
Issue #16 | Thursday 19th December 2019
An Update from our Chief Executive and Chair

Welcome to the December edition of our e-newsletter. This month, we look back on a busy final couple of months of 2019, as we acted to ensure that the skills & insights of environmental professionals are harnessed in the response to the Climate and Environmental Emergency.

Thank you to all who helped make 2019 a success. We look forward to the many opportunities that lie ahead in 2020 – but in the meantime - best wishes for a great festive period from all at SocEnv!

Demonstrate your Commitment & Leadership - Pledge to Net Zero Today!

We are in a Climate and Environmental Emergency. The UK Government has committed to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to Net Zero by 2050 and the environmental sector must take a leadership role in delivering this transition to a net zero carbon economy.

This is where Pledge to Net Zero comes in. By signing up to the pledge, signatories commit to tackling carbon emissions within their own organisations and to publicly report on their progress against this target each year.

The initiative is led by six leading environmental organisations – including ourselves, IEMA, the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE), AECOM, the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) and WSP.

You can find out more about the pledge via the website: www.pledgetonetzero.org/. We will also be holding a webinar with information and advice to help organisations make the pledge - scroll down to the 'events' section for further details!
