Society for the Environment E-Newsletter
Issue #14 | Wednesday 21st August 2019
An Update from our Chief Executive and Chair

Welcome to the August edition of our e-newsletter. It has been another two very busy and positive months for the Society for the Environment - something we say quite often! Think new environmental apprenticeships, Employer Champions, podcasts, registrant profiles and even a new website.

This month we'd like to highlight some of the developments here at the Society, including those listed above. We've kept the update short, but links are plentiful to allow you to find out more about each item. As a heads up, our next update in October will reflect on the September Board meeting and strategy day.

Introducing Two New CEnv Employer Champions

This month, we are delighted to announce two new CEnv Employer Champions – Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd and Locogen Ltd.

In our June update, we noted the launch of our new Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) Employer Champion recognition programmes. Being recognised as an ‘Employer Champion’ highlights organisations supporting their staff to excel via environmental professional registration.

Will Bros and Locogen join the six organisations already announced as Employer Champions - Anglian WaterArup, Atkins, Environment Agency, Skanska and Willmott Dixon. Find out more about how your organisation can become an Employer Champion, here

Proud to Support the New Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship

The Society is supporting the first ever degree apprenticeship for the environment sector - a level 6 Environmental Practitioner apprenticeship. Employers in England can recruit candidates immediately to start the programme this autumn.

The apprenticeship is a new route into the profession that combines academic education with practical experience to equip future employees. Apprentices will be able to earn a salary from an employer while completing a professionally accredited degree qualification in environmental sciences (or similar), and will likely be eligible to gain professional registration (currently REnvTech).
