Employing Environmental Professionals

Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) registrants work across sectors in a wide spectrum of disciplines. They are experts in their field, able to provide informed, valuable leadership on environmental and sustainability issues.

CEnv and REnvTech registrants are highly beneficial to employers of all sizes. They can demonstrate expertise, enhance your brand, increase trust and positioning, help to win new work and prove staff competence in legal proceedings. Their proven expertise, commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and alignment to the Society for the Environment’s Code of Professional Conduct confirms them as leaders in their roles.

We believe that environmental decisions should be made by those who are able to prove their competence to do so. Professional registration is an ideal way to showcase this competence. We are pleased to learn that some organisations now require CEnv registration in order to sign off key reports, highlighting the position of trust and responsibility their CEnv employees hold.

With the above in mind, we want to work with you to see how professional registrations fit within your organisation. How do you employ environmental professionals? Do REnvTech employees have certain responsibilities? Are you aware that the Chartered Engineers that work on environmental projects can become a CEnv too and showcase their environmental expertise?

This is a learning process for us too. We want to find out how we can support your organisation now and into the future.

Supporting your teams and supply chains towards professional registration and championing those registered will open the door to many benefits for your organisation.

By employing CEnv and REnvTech registrants you will;

  • enhance your brand
  • increase trust and positioning
  • help to win new work and satisfy current clients
  • improve employee job satisfaction
  • attract higher quality job applicants
  • encourage innovative, up to date thinking due to CPD requirements
  • prove staff competence in legal proceedings
  • showcase a commitment to environmental protection
  • gain further opportunities to showcase environmental case studies and achievements
  • increase the environmental standing of the sector as a whole.

We champion all routes into environmental professions that equip aspiring professionals with the necessary knowledge and experience to begin a successful and rewarding career. This includes apprenticeships.

An example of the Society's work with apprenticeships is the support provided to the level six Environmental Practitioner degree apprenticeship and our potential role as the External Quality Assurance (EQA) organisation. But, if you have a Trailblazer Group in mind for a new apprenticeship, please do get in touch and let us know.

More information about apprenticeships and how we get involved coming soon.
