About Castle Debates

Castle Debates are held on an approximately monthly basis in London in association with Sykes Environmental, ESI Consulting, and GeoSmart.

Each speaker has 15 minutes to present and then the floor is opened for a question-and-answer session which lasts about an hour and turns the event into a proper debate.

Attendance is free. In 2018, the Debates covered subjects as topical and varied as:

  • Environmental Principles and Governance Bill - Pros and Cons
  • Clean Growth Strategy
  • Working Wetlands
  • Brexit and the Devolved Administrations
  • Ocean Contamination

The Founder and Chair of the Debates, Pamela Castle OBE, is a Solicitor. She is former Chair of, amongst others, the UK Environmental Law Association, the NNFCC Bioeconomy Consultants and the GLA’s London Sustainable Development Commission. She is also former Head of Environmental Law at the law firm CMS Cameron McKenna. She has an Honours degree in Chemistry and wide experience in Commercial and Industrial matters. In addition, she was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate at Law from City University London.
