Plant Engineer Magazine Relaunched with New Name and Increased Frequency

01 November 2018   (0 Comments)

Plant Engineer magazine, a bimonthly trade title published for members of the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE), has relaunched as Operations Engineer.

In addition to carrying out a complete redesign, publishers Mark Allen Group have also augmented the magazine’s frequency; following the first edition in November 2018 it will be issued on a monthly basis.

The changes are partly due to development within the professional engineering institution that saw the launch of a fourth professional sector, the Institute of Operations Engineers, as well as a desire to keep the brand current and relevant to its readership. The changes follow an extensive survey of members’ needs and wants for the publication that was conducted earlier this year.

Operations Engineer has a new look, but its scope is unchanged: it still covers the use, repair and inspection of fixed and mobile equipment across industry. However, its mission – to improve the efficiency, safety and environmental sustainability of such work – has been reinvigorated.

Daniel Moir, SOE Chief Operating Officer, said: "Operations Engineer will continue to cover the big environmental stories in detail, and the engineering processes and practices that are being pioneered by our members to limit the damage done to our planet. Environmental practices are becoming ever more prominent in this profession, and a large proportion of our members work across the disciplines of plant, operations and environmental engineering. Our new editorial team will shine a light on environmental engineering good practice and continue to ensure that our members are supported in their field."

Bruce McGill, SOE chief executive officer, said: "Plant Engineer has been a trusted source of technical knowledge for many years, and Operations Engineer will carry forward that responsibility. At the same time, the rebrand and refresh will increase its appeal by ensuring relevance to all professionals working across the industries that SOE serves."

Like sister title Transport Engineer, the magazine is published by MA Business, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mark Allen Group, on behalf of the SOE. Operations Engineer’s publisher is Jon Benson, commercial director is Craig Molloy, editor is Will Dalrymple and deputy editor is Adam Offord.
