News Release | CIWEM
The international photography competition showcasing the best in environmental photography re-opens for 2018!
The Environmental Photographer of the Year 2018 is now open for entries. It is open to all professional and amateur, national and international photographers of all ages, and exhibits the very best in international environmental photography.
The competition aims to inspire a global audience to think differently about contemporary social and environmental issues; including pollution, plastic , sustainable development and poverty.
In over a decade, the Environmental Photographer of the Year has narrated the growing impact of human activity on the natural environment, and has attracted over 50,000 entries since it began.
The competition reflects CIWEM’s breadth of experience across the water and environmental spectrum. Judges are in search of images which can show the intimate link between environmental and social issues, and that will make the observer question their own behaviour towards the planet.
Terry Fuller, CIWEM Chief Executive and competition judge,
“This competition is now in its 11th year. Following the success of last year, we are looking forward to see a new range of inspiring images that will encourage people and organisations around the world to think about the environment and consider how our actions impact upon the planet.”
Winners have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes, including £2,000 in cash, and have the chance for their photographs to be showcased around the world.
The competition consists of five categories, which each relate to different aspects of the environment. These are
1. Environmental Photographer of the Year
2. Changing Climates Prize
3. Built Environment Prize
4. Sustainability in Practice Prize
5. Young Environmental Photographer of the Year (Under 21)
The competition is now open and will close on 31st July 2018. To find out more about the Environmental Photographer of the Year, including how to enter, previous winners, and opportunities to sponsor, please visit www.ciwem.org/epoty.
