04 May 2018
We have caught up with the 2017 winner of the prestigious Environmental Professional of Year, Dr Phillippa Pearson, almost a year to the day after her presentation.
Dr Phillippa Pearson, Head of Water Services Science for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, said,
"I was incredibly honoured to be awarded SocEnv’s Environmental Professional of the Year for 2017. Industry recognition and continuing professional development is extremely important to me and my team as it allows us to remain industry-leading and keeps us relevant in an ever changing environment.
"Working towards and achieving CEnv professional status brings fantastic personal benefits by building confidence and credibility in your chosen field of work. It also offers your current and any future employers confidence that you are achieving the high professional standards required by industry leaders in today’s competitive job market."
Phillippa continues by urging others to apply for the 2018 award; "Winning this award has been a wonderful personal recognition not only for my own professional status, but also for the work Welsh Water has done to develop catchment management in Wales. I would encourage any registrant who is proud of their achievements in the environmental or sustainability sector to apply for Environmental Professional of the Year and get the recognition you deserve for your work."
