Chief Executive of CIWEM to Host Seminar at Flood Expo 2017

23 August 2017   (0 Comments)

Terry Fuller, the Chief Executive of CIWEM and a Council and Cabinet member of the Society for the Environment, will host a seminar at Flood Expo 2017.

On behalf of CIWEM and the Society, the seminar will consider how the UK can secure the essential development of housing and other infrastructure whilst successfully managing flood risk.

Terry has nearly 30 years’ experience as a River and Coastal Flood Risk Manager having delivered major projects in some of the world’s most beautiful and challenging locations. Previously, Terry managed the rivers and coastal business for Jacobs Engineering and worked in their Global Business Development Group.

The seminar is titled ‘Let’s Not Make Matters Worse’, and will consider how the UK can secure essential development of housing and other infrastructure whilst managing flood risk in the immediate term and for future generations. To do this, Terry argues that we must apply the ingenuity of many professional disciplines and sectors and in so doing we can deliver multiple benefits. This will include lessons from practices overseas and opportunity to transfer services from the UK to around the world.

The seminar will take place on the 27th September 2017 at 14:15 in Theatre Hall 5.

Both the Society for the Environment and CIWEM are exhibiting at Flood Expo 2017, which takes place on the 27th and 28th September 2017 at ExCeL London. Register for free and come and talk to our teams about membership and registration options.

Terry stated; “exhibiting at the world’s largest flood conference and exhibition provides a fantastic opportunity to engage with other like-minded organisations that have the ingenuity to combat and manage flooding effectively both in the UK and around the world.”

Terry has always been active in helping to influence policy and research in flood risk management, exemplified through representing CIWEM and the Institution of Civil Engineers at international conferences.
