Licensed Member of the Society for the Environment, IEMA, reacts to the Nature Based Solutions Report from RSPB and WWF.

IEMA’s Deputy CEO & Director of Policy and External Affairs Martin Baxter CEnv says:

“This positive report helps to drive forward the urgent policy development that must underpin natured-based solutions that can deliver climate adaptation in the UK.

It’s measured approach spells out the importance of widening the range of nature-based solutions in planning for climate adaptation. We welcome the recognition of the need to follow a sectoral approach, alongside the need for adequate funding and robust standards and targets to promote high-quality nature-based interventions.

Policy action from government is integral in providing the enabling framework for advancing the provision of effective nature-based solutions in the UK – but it’s just the start. There is an essential role for environmental and sustainability professionals in different industries to play their role. We at IEMA are and will continue to help facilitate this.”
