Event Summary
‘The Green Economy Under Our Feet – Towards a Green Britain’
From the event organiser, Tony Brophy:
As we face the monumental challenges of the climate and ecological crises before us, we need daring, innovative and inspired thinking.
It is with that agenda that we are hosting “The Green Economy Under Our Feet Towards a Green Britain” conference. We are bringing together thought-leaders and practitioners, who are walking the talk and applying nature-based-solutions to mitigate climate-change and build resilience into our ecosystems.
The opening-address, made by Dr. Bruno Marques, President of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) Faculty of Architecture & Design Innovation at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, will set the tone. The event will also feature 13 of the most outstanding female Landscape Architects worldwide leading the fight against Climate Change.
This conference will provide delegates with an insight into the emerging opportunities incorporating carbon and ecological solutions into the landscape design industries that are attracting major market interest. Ideal for:
- landscape architects
- garden designers
- landowners
- ecologists
- biodiversity, sustainability and ESG managers
- contractors
- suppliers.
The conference will be filled with insightful and inspiring discussions led by the ‘Thought Leaders’ & ‘Market Leaders’; –
- Advocating a holistic approach to land-use & green infrastructure
- Demonstrating best climate-change practice
- Prioritising water resilience to deliver a ‘Fresh Water Future’
- Reversing biodiversity decline
- Promoting holistic action for cleaner air
- Ensuring soils are treated as a valuable capital asset
- Exploring innovative ideas for nature-based-solutions
- Unlocking investment in low carbon technologies to deliver ‘Net-Zero’
- Unlocking the enormous social, economic and environmental potential of green jobs and skills
WWF’s 2024 biennial Living Planet Report states that monitored global wildlife populations have seen a catastrophic average decline by 73% in just 50 years. It warns that the world is dangerously close to irreversible global tipping points such as the melting of polar ice sheets and the collapse of the Amazon rainforest ecosystem.
Natural England’s ‘The State of Natural Capital Report for England 2024; Risks to Nature and why it matters’ states that, “tackling the nature crisis will require action across all sectors to reduce risks to society. This report is your guide to action.
I encourage you to read it, use it, and secure the benefits nature provides into the future not just for yourself but for society as a whole and the natural world which sustains us.”
With that in mind we look forward to bringing together many of the most exciting thinkers and pioneering practitioners to help drive our industries forward and to create opportunity and hope during a time of rapid and radical change.
