Event Summary

Sustainable Forestry: Maximising Public Value Through Partnerships

ICF are delighted to announce that the Institute’s acclaimed National Study Tour will return in October 2024, focusing on the management of the public forest estate in Northern Ireland to deliver public goods in partnership with public and private sector organisations.

The tour will:

  • explore the key processes in sustainable management planning, from initial scoping consultation, through to published forest management plans.
  • discuss the challenges and solutions to implementing workable and resilient partnership arrangements that provide for the necessary legal and governance requirements of partners.
  • involve how these public goods can be valued and used to promote and increase afforestation to deliver government climate change targets.

Over the two days, members will visit Castlewellan Forest Park, Co. Down, Killeavy Estate and Slieve Gullion Forest Park, Co. Armagh, focusing on developing the delivery of public goods from the footprint of the public forest estate.
