ISEP Reducing UK’s e-waste - the role of business

Event by: ISEP

Event Summary

“The UK economy is losing £1bn worth of valuable materials such as  gold, copper and lithium, hidden inside the electricals that we are currently throwing away or holding onto.  This is one of the key findings from Material Focus’s research which also found that 200,000 tonnes of electricals are thrown away by businesses each year. Instead these electricals and the materials inside them could be central to the UK’s circular economy and protect the UK’s economic future.

Join this ISEP and Material Focus webinar  where we will dig into the issue of waste electricals, the role that businesses can play, e-waste regulations and how to comply.

Tech is central to the way we all live, households, and businesses, and we are all consuming more and more of these items. However, waste electricals are one of the fastest growing waste streams globally and in the UK, and they contain some of the most precious materials on our planet.  The rise of FastTech, those small, very cheap electricals, such as vapes, chargers, and mini fans are one of the many trends fuelling this waste electricals challenge. At ISEP and Material Focus’s event you will discover the following:

  • The business case – the challenges and benefits of a circular economy for waste electricals
  • Business E-waste obligations – and how to comply
  • What other businesses are doing – Scottish Power case study
  • Future opportunities and challenges
  • Q&A”
