EI UK Energy Policy Debate | Clean Power 2030: an achievable target?

Event by: Energy Institute

Event Summary

“The UK Government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan outlines a pathway to transition the electricity system to predominantly clean energy sources by 2030. The plan aims for at least 95% of electricity consumption to be met by low-carbon sources, with clean power covering 100% of demand in a typical year.

Key benefits of this initiative include energy independence, as by reducing reliance on fossil fuels consumers should be more protected from global energy price fluctuations, economic growth, through reindustrialising regions with sustainable jobs, and of course the main purpose of climate change mitigation.

So how do we move the plan forward? Hear from our expert speakers at this in-person Energy Policy Debate.”
