Environment policy in London – natural environment, built infrastructure and progress towards net zero

Key stakeholders and policymakers will assess progress on the London Environment Strategy - as well as remaining challenges - in the context of The London Plan, which sets out a new cross-sector framework for the development of London over the next 20-25 years.

Overall, areas for discussion include:

  • environmental policy priorities for London - looking at the London Environment Strategy, new developments within The London Plan and the Mayor’s plans to make London Carbon Neutral by 2030
  • a green COVID-19 recovery in London - examining strategies that can ensure climate protection and environmental resilience, and contribute to reaching net-zero targets
  • active travel - looking at opportunities, including behavioural change with increased walking and cycling to work in the wake of the pandemic
  • preparing for climate change - adaptation strategies to meet emissions reduction targets
  • developing local and city-wide approaches
  • priorities for natural environment protection - including supporting biodiversity, access to green spaces, and realising the value of London’s natural capital and net-gain within infrastructure projects
  • the built environment - next steps for decarbonisation and developing green infrastructure, including improving the energy efficiency of new and future homes

Featuring several CEnv guest speakers.
