In the built environment sector, our understanding of the practice of sustainable resource management (SRM), and – in a wider context – the circular economy, has evolved considerably in the last decade.

However, the effective management of materials and waste is still highly dependent on factors such as the robustness of systems designed to ensure continuity of information between development lifecycle stages.

EIA practitioners responsible for the environmental assessment of materials and waste must therefore become aware of the key SRM principles, and ensure developments benefit from a robust, consistent and best practice approach to minimise potentially significant adverse effects.

Join us on the 19th March for a presentation of the new IEMA guidance on Materials and Waste in Environmental Impact Assessment, written by practitioners for practitioners.

The guidance was authored and edited by Tim Danson (WSP).  The co-authors and main contributors to the document were Liz Gray (Atkins), David Smith (AECOM), Nigel Pilkington (AECOM), Steve Pearce (AECOM) and Jenny Warhurst (WSP).

During this session you will gain:
- An overview of the findings on the key terms, concepts and considerations for assessing the environmental impacts and effects of materials and waste;
- Better understanding of the process and checklists applicable to the different stages of the EIA process;
- An opportunity to discuss the guide and worked examples with the authors from WSP, ATKINS and AECOM.

This webinar counts for 1 hour of CPD, so don’t forget to add it to your IEMA CPD Portal. This can be accessed through your member account on iema.net.
