Event overview

The first of six webinars in this returning series that is designed to help EIA practitioners understand and prepare for future challenges will see Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) Josh Fothergill tackle perhaps the most crucial aspect of EIA - generating an effective scope for the assessment.

While disproportionate EIA is a systemic problem, it is widely recognised that within each individual assessment it is the scoping process that has the largest influence on whether the resultant Environmental Statement is obese. It is also clear from practice that there is far more to it than that envisioned in the Scoping Request & Opinion stage set out in the Regulations. Scoping is an on-going process from the project’s inception by the developer all the way through to how the ES is set out and how any further information requests are responded to.

This webinar will provide a useful refresher of key actions and advice that can help generate efficiencies in coming to an agreed and effective scope, with an emphasis on the collaborative nature and lead stakeholders through the EIA.

The webinar will explore how scoping needs an adaptive mindset that mixes expertise & experience with engagement, collaboration and resilience, to name a few of the skills deployed. The webinar will include a review of how the 2017 Regulations requirement to produce an ES ‘based on’ the scoping opinion has influenced practice, before closing with a review of potential future developments in this most critical area of EIA practice.

This webinar is free for Development & Infrastructure subscribers and Environment Analyst Market Intelligence subscribers are entitled to receive 15% off.
