On the 7th October 2025, Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), David Stubbs, was announced as the winner of the Leadership Award at the Sport Positive Summit.
David has previously won the Society for the Environment’s Chartered Environmentalist of the Year Award in 2013, largely based on his work to spearhead sustainability at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Extracted from the Sport Positive website – Sport Positive Awards is a global industry awards that celebrates, uplifts and raises awareness of organisations and individuals who are leading the charge on using the power of sport to tackle some of the biggest issues of our time – the climate and biodiversity crises and environmental/climate justice.
Reacting to the Leadership Award, David Stubbs said:
“I was honoured to receive this award as recognition for the sustainability work I have pioneered in the sport sector over some three decades. From slow and small beginnings, it is so gratifying to see how sustainability has become mainstream and integral to the planning and management of sport facilities and events. Much of this was turbo charged through the work my team did at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which is still widely regarded as a benchmark for sustainability in sport.”
From all at the Society for the Environment, congratulations!
David is a CEnv via his membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
