Chartered Environmentalists

The Society for the Environment is delighted to announce that we have surpassed the new milestone of 8,000 environmental professionals who have met the standard to achieve Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) registration.

This incredible achievement comes during the Society’s 20-year anniversary, marking two decades of registering professionals leading the way for a sustainable future. And with 8,000 Chartered Environmentalists and counting, the need for competent environmental professionals is evident.

The Environmental Chartership continues to be a highly sought after, internationally respected professional registration that provides professionals with the recognition that reflects a high level of skill and experience. Setting Chartered Environmentalists apart from others working in their field.

Current Chartered Environmentalists are members of twenty-eight professional bodies across a huge array of different sectors, including agriculture, engineering, ecology, environmental management, forestry, materials and waste and more.

Reacting to the news, Chief Executive of the Society for the Environment, Dr Emma Wilcox CEnv FIMMM CMgr, said:

“This is a landmark milestone for the Society and the profession as a whole and an important moment in our vision to promote environmental professionalism.

We need registered environmental professionals – now more than ever. Given the growing pressures of climate, environmental and biodiversity crises, we continue to need the consideration of the environment included in all key decisions and Chartered Environmentalists are externally verified as dedicated, highly skilled and experienced environmental professionals who can work towards achieving a sustainable future.

So, if you are thinking about leading the way and playing your part, I ask – if not now, when?”

The Society is delighted to share this incredible achievement of 8,000 Chartered Environmentalists doing amazing work with proven competence, experience, and dedication – helping to tackle environmental emergencies locally and globally. But understand that the work is not over yet, we must continue to register competent environmental professionals capable of tackling the crises and leading us towards a sustainable future.
